John’s New York Market Insights
In 2023, New York’s residential real estate markets faced challenges, including diminished buying power and a price adjustment in Manhattan. Sales fell for the fifth straight quarter, with market-wide closings decreasing by 3%. New listings hit a four-year low, contributing to a decline in inventory.
However, signs of stabilization emerged as inflation cooled and mortgage rates began to subside.
Cooperatives saw an increase in inventory, while the rental market experienced its first decline in median rental prices.
